Irish Trip to St. Enda's Rathfarnham

At 9.30 am on Friday the 10th of May all Transition Years left for St.Enda's Rathfarnham. We arrived there at around half 10 and had little break until 11.
We split up into our class groups. My class were firstly going on a nature walk. We all got a sticker and stuck different plants & flowers to it. The nature walk was lovely and the scenery was beautiful.
Next my class were watching a DVD about Patrick Pearse including how he set up the school and more. The DVD was enjoyable and was only 20 minutes long.
The last thing my class did was a tour of the museum which used to be the school. We got to see the loads of the original items. Some of things we walked around are the main hall, the little church, the living room, the study and the bedrooms for the children boarding.
At half one we got to go for lunch in the coffee shop and we all left to go back to the school at around 2.20pm.
Overall the day went fast and was another good Transition Year outing.

Week after Easter

It's the first week back after Easter and everyone is settling in again, everyone seemed to enjoy Easter and is sad to be back already!

French: In French at the moment 6 of us are starting a project and the other 3 are doing orals. My project is on Paris and we are starting to work on it properly next week.

Art: In Art we have all started our puppets. We firstly had to draw out what we wanted our puppet to look like then started off with the puppet's head using newspaper and masking tape. This week I started to work on the puppet's features.

Home Ec: We have two doubles a week so in the first double we cook and this week we baked Lemon Curd cupcakes. For the other double we are making a teddy and my teddy is coming along well.

Science: This week we had a new teacher as we always swap teachers each term, we did an experiment for our double.

Music: For Music class we discussed what song to do for Ty Night and we also got into groups of 4. We have two weeks to pick a song and perform it.

Technology: Next week we will all be starting a phone holder and we can pick the design ourselves & we will have all the rest of April & May to finish it.

English: We are continuing to practice our drama's and are hoping to perform some of them for Ty night.

Kildare & Bowling!

On Wednesday the 20th of April all of the TY's were going out for the day. We left the school at 9.00am and got the bus to Kildare town. We firstly had a look at different statues of St.Brigit then watched a small video back when she lived in that time. After this we walked to the Round Tower and everyone walked around it 7 times backwards because apparently you will dream about your husband that night! We then got the bus to both of St.Brigit's wells.
At 12.00pm we got the bus to Newbridge Whitewater Shopping Centre to get lunch and we were all finished at 1.00pm.
After lunch we got the bus to KBowl near Whitewater Shopping Centre. We gave in all our teams and got ready in our lanes. We started bowling at around 1.40pm and we're finished within an hour.
We arrived home on time and everyone enjoyed the day a lot! :)

Dress up day

Last Friday the 15th of March was dress up day for St.Patrick's Day. Transition Year's had to dress up as leprechauns or fairies.
We had to pick one person from each class to go in the parade, from our class was Orla Conway! She was the best dressed in our class and she dressed up as an Irish fairy.
At big lunch we all went to the hall , we watched the parade of all the people from each class walking down the hall and some people did Irish Dancing.
After this the prefects put on music and all the students danced to different songs! It was an enjoyable day and we all had a great weekend! :)

Sci-Fest & Briary Gap

Last Friday was Sci-Fest in our school. We spent the last month writing up a  report on our project and designing our poster. Our experiment was about How Temperature Affects Performance.
We came in on Friday morning and set up our stand. Throughout the morning two judges came to us and were very impressed. Unfortunately my group didn't get through and we were very disappointed as we put a lot of work into it!
After Sci-Fest a group of 11 students & 2 teachers left for Macroom in Cork. We were all in class Siochain and were going to Cork to perform a drama. Our drama was about Homelessness. It took 3 and a half hours to get there. We performed our drama at quarter to four and had left by half 4. We didn't get home until half 8 unfortunately but stopped off at McDonalds on the way home. Everyone performed brilliantly and wen were all happy with our performance.
This week we also heard the good news that we got two awards. We got the Runner-Up award and the Best Atmosphere award.
